This morning I went to the Launch of the brand-new Ministry of Science and Innovation. It was great fun and very informative. One of the highlights was John Key's speech so here a sneak peek
Here some background to the event:
The Minister of Research, Science and Technology Dr Wayne Mapp invited to the launch of the new Ministry of Science and Innovation at Victoria University on this morning 1 February 2011.
Hear from the Prime Minister John Key and meet scientists who are turning heads worldwide, including the Magnetic Resonance Innovation team (recipients of the 2010 Prime Minister’s Science Prize) and members of the Antarctic Research Centre.
Get hands-on with an exciting innovation showcase lined up to as part of this celebration—featuring world-class biomedical technology, a sneak preview of the solar power house design that won Victoria University students a place at the US Department of Energy ‘Solar Decathlon’ competition, and the latest in video gaming technology from Sidhe Interactive.
You can even meet Spike—the tuatara that represents the face of internationally-renowned reproductive and conservation biology research programmes. (And YES, I also took shots of Spike :-)
More to come soon,
